Baltimore History Evenings

This monthly lecture series features illuminating presentations on Baltimore history, followed by discussion.

Talks are held on the third Thursday of the month from January through June at the

2521 St. Paul Street

Each evening starts with a reception at 7 pm
and talks begin at 7:30 pm.

The Baltimore History Evening series aims to increase public knowledge about and affection for Baltimore history, while supporting new research and new perspectives. Presenters have been academics, community members, students, activists, and more.

The History Evenings attract an audience of Baltimoreans from all walks of life who are passionate about local history. Speakers have the opportunity to share their research with engaged listeners, delve into the historical roots of current issues, or simply tell a fascinating but little-known story about Baltimore’s past.

Each talk is 40-45 minutes long, followed by a 30-minute discussion with the audience. Most presenters deliver a lecture on original historical research accompanied by a slideshow with visuals, although we are open to considering proposals for alternative approaches to presenting Baltimore’s history.

Presenters receive a $250 honorarium.
